Twitter, what is that? Really, do you really have to ask? Twitter is probably one of the quickest growing websites on the internet today. It is breaking tradition, and increasing users at a very frenzied rate. If you have to ask what is Twitter, you, more than anyone, have to read this and hop on the train!
Twitter is pretty much a mini blogging site. You only have 140 digits for each post. This may seem tiny at first, but you can really pack a lot of stuff into 140 characters. Even more to your advantage, though, is individuals are more apt to read those 140 characters than they are to read even a complete web site. As you get more used to working inside the 140 character limit, it will amaze you what you can stick into that small space.
Twitter is much more, though, than just the platform to post daily thoughts. It is becoming a huge marketing boom for individuals who know how to harness the power of Twitter. There are a great deal of Twitter marketing tools available the internet, allowing you to create a following fast.
The whole key to Twitter is the ability to grow a following of incredibly targeted individuals. It is a virtual email list, but an email list that you can market to 5, 10 or 20 times a day. Think about that, how many advertising mediums are out there that will allow you to get your marketing in front of a incredibly targeted audience 10 or 20 times a day? Well, there is a few, but how many can you do so at zero cost?
The big upside to Twitter is that as you grow this following of highly targeted individuals, you begin building your own brand. You can build a reputation with these people, and they will always be there to receive your message. Incredibly good stuff.
If you are just getting started on Twitter, one item you will want to do is increase your followers. For those new to this, this can be difficult and frustrating. There are a number of pretty inexpensive ebooks on how to get Twitter followers, but what I would suggest is some of the software on the market to help you manage the process.
There are many sites out there promoting “follower trains”, like a link exchange but for followers. You will increase your followers quickly, but they are not quality followers. They are not targeted, and most are marketers just looking to grow their own followers. Your advertising is only as good as your list, grow it to be high quality is my suggestion.
