The debate about healthcare reform has included an unforeseen voice in the large numbers of young Americans who do not have health insurance. Many young adults, specifically in the 18-29 age group, don’t have health insurance, due to lack of employment or restrictive wait times for insurance from employers. For this group, short term health insurance can be a great way to protect against high medical costs.
For many young people, being in college, working in unpaid internships or even being employed as a contract worker can result in a lack of available healthcare options. Often, short term insurance plans are a safe way to guarantee medical coverage in case of emergency.
