I am sure you have heard of search engine optimisation services, also known as seo services. This is the process of driving targeted visitors to your online business web presence using appropriate keywords. Keyword phrases are also important. Use them to bring in even more lucrative visitor traffic.
Keywords are used in content, web page headlines and the like to gain interest from the major search engines. The engines employ robots to visit your website development once it is registered and to check on what you have within. If you select very specific words that your customers will likely specify when they look for your site, then your content will probably appear within the all-important primary page of results. This means that you will be the first link anyone sees for those words.
Website content is not just something for visitors to read. It is also a way to attract the “right” visitors in the first place. It is very important that you use the right keywords across your site, so that you gain the acceptance of the search engines and become visible.
Doing your Homework.
You didn’t leave your homework behind when you finished school. If you are in business then you will always be learning, so long as you want to go as far as you possibly can. To that end, it is time to do a little homework for your content – keyword research.
Now, you don’t have to be stellar at research in order to get this done and get it done right. Correct keyword research will reveal the words that you need to rank your website ahead of everyone else. Are you ready? Let’s begin.
Conducting Keyword Research.
There are a few things that you can do:
1. Create a list of words. You must put yourself in the shoes of your customer. If you were them, what word would you use to help find your site? Write as many of these down as possible. Even better, use an Excel spreadsheet or similar, as it would be easier to work with later. Choose single words and multiple word phrases.
2. Ask your customers. You have existing customers. Survey them to find out how they found you. If it was through an Internet search ask what words they used. It seems too easy, but most business owners overlook such a resource because they don’t ask the right questions.
3. Use keyword software tools. They are especially helpful if you have determined your keyword list already. The software will let you know a variety of things about your keywords and whether they are good enough to reach your target audience.
4. Now it’s time to analyse the data. Take your list and condense it, so that you are left with just the keywords most likely to succeed. Now rank these keywords, first to last.
5. Try out those keywords. Don’t use all of them at one time, but keep track of which ones you use and for how long. Website management tools help you to determine how each person used a keyword or phrase and what they did as a consequence, also known as a means of assessing conversion rates.
Are you sure you are ready? You obviously already use content, but maybe it isn’t working well enough. There are always ways to make it better and keywords are one of those ways.
